Eventually I made it inside and was treated to a warm cheese pastry breakfast made by Niki's grandmother with a few pints of 'homemade' Bulgarian yoghurt drink which the Japanese apparently go crazy for. "It's full of bacteria you know!" We watched Chalga videos until I took the most affordable cab ride of my life back to the airport.
