ON VINYL TODAY!
Surprised and honoured when I got a message one day from David Moufang saying how he was enjoying many of my releases. I have been a fan of Move D's records for at least 16 years. This record came together just by chance. David was looking for someone to remix and release a few of his works with DJ Laté. At the time I was also working on a remix for Good Guy Mikesh and Filburt for The Exquisite Pain Recordings of Marseille. Pitched the idea to Romain Burle and voila!

Aihki - Samarkand (Eddie C Remix)
Worked on this remix at the old homestead where I had my studio as a teenager in Ontario. It was a hectic time preparing for the move overseas but still managed to finish off a few pieces of work! Aihki are a Nordic/Balearic? ensemble from Helsinki drawing their inspiration from Reindeer, Finnish Folk and guitar lessons :). Honoured to be asked by Coyote to contribute a remix to this EP. Available now on Is It Balearic Records at all fine record shops.

Silver Magic Airways Interview + Mix
Learned to "Skype" for this interview. Have had plugged ears this week from an extended head cold brought on no doubt from the beautiful Berlin weather this time of year. Getting a bit better now, but it's been an adventure with ear drops and that mini turkey baster thing trying to hear properly again... sounds like I'm yelling a bit in the interview.
The 1 hour mix is a snippet from my recent 8 hour set in Tokyo.

Common Edit 003
Having fun running these around Berlin town... dropped a box at OYE Records today along with copies of Red Motorbike 001.
Here's a Juno Review:
and one from Phonica:
It's always a pleasant experience opening a fresh box of hand stamped COMMON EDIT records, particularly on this occasion as we have a fearsome triumvirate at the controls. Both tracks have a very consistent feel to them despite production duties being split between Eddie C, Dane & Bron. We’re not sure which way the cake is cut mind you but no matter, just let the sultry grooves we’ve come to know and love from this label wash over you like a warm cup of Bovril, least that’s how we like it.

RED MOTORBIKE
A great goal of mine has finally been realized and only days before leaving Canada. The only thing that is missing is the motorbike! I had to settle for my early 80s Peugeot road bike. I have only visited a few record shops and sold some small batches to my favourite online shops so far, but the most important one for me was Play de Record in Toronto. (See the photo in the previous post - 'hustling'). I have been shopping there since they opened in 1990. It is now one of Toronto's and frankly Canada's last remaining shops that carry NEW vinyl. I used to sell mix tapes there in the 90s which was also very satisfying and allowed me to afford more records than usual at the time! It was a pleasure for me to personally deliver copies of this seven inch along with copies of the new Common Edit record directly to Jason Palma, now co-owner of the shop who has been there since the beginning and is one of Toronto's most highly respected jocks. Red Motorbike 001 contains tunes that were destined for the 7 Inches of Love series before it was decided best to leave the label at 7 releases total. They were pressed at Archer in Detroit and hand stamped at my house in Banff and at Dane's house in Edmonton. I hope you enjoy it, there are many more to come in the series and I hope I get to sell one to you personally. "I don't give rekkad! I sell rekkad!"

Common Edit #2
Pressed in Detroit, stamped in Banff!
Juno
Phonica
juno review: Eddie C and his Seven Inches of Love buddy Koosh present the second release on the newly formed Common Edits label. Borne out of the intimate Edmonton club night called The Common, this second drop gets off to a suitably sultry start via Koosh's take on the Diana Ross classic "Love Hangover". Focusing mostly on portion of the track that has Ross grunting like she's on heat, this is a re-edit that's gonna get a few people in the mood. On the flip Eddie C drops "Got To Find", a delightfully wavy soul gem characterised by intermittent swathes of emotive synth washes
